Richelle Brookman



Richelle has a strong background in the performing arts, training as a dancer since the age of three. This led Richelle in 2001 to become a member of Latin Dance Australia (LDA), which is the founder and producer of the first Brazilian Festival in Sydney and also represents Australia at the World Salsa Congresses. LDA also specialises in dance instruction and Latin entertainment. Richelle was involved with LDA as a performer, instructor and choreographer as well as the promotion of events and festivals. Aside from her dance background, Richelle studied law, economics and computing as part of a teaching degree.


Richelle worked for Company B Belvoir Street Theatre in Sydney as Administration Coordinator. Richelle also took on the role of Administration Coordinator and Assistant Producer for Fresh Track Productions. These roles allowed Richelle to become familiar with both independent and subsidised companies and enabled her able to develop a thorough understanding of many facets of performing arts production including budgeting, contracting, marketing, technical management and publicity.


In 2004 Richelle joined The Phantom of The Opera Asian Tour as Deputy Company Manager and has toured to Shanghai (Shanghai Grand Theatre) and Seoul (Seoul Arts Centre) with the production before co-founding Arts Asia Pacific (AAP) in 2005.


Through Arts Asia Pacific Richelle also continued her association with The Phantom of the Opera providing Company Management for seasons in Taipei (National Theatre), Hong Kong (Hong Kong Cultural Centre), Singapore (Esplanade Theatres) and Melbourne (Princess Theatre).



Torben Brookman



Torben Brookman is Joint Managing Director of Arts Asia Pacific Pty Ltd (AAP), a private company specialising in the production of new work and international touring of existing productions, which he founded with Richelle Brookman in 2005.


AAP was established in 2005 to cater for the growing demand for touring productions and the production of new work throughout Asia. AAP is a producer, executive producer, general manager, and tour manager with expertise in the Asia Pacific region. As well as producing and touring new work AAP also specialises in structuring tours and seasons for existing productions throughout Asia.


Since the inception of the company in 2005, AAP has enjoyed rapid and successful development. To date the company has presented Jesus Christ Superstar for the first time in English language in Korea in 2007, the China premiere of Slava's Snowshow as well as seasons in Hong Kong and Korea. In December 2007, AAP also structured the first tour by legendary French puppeteer and visual theatre artist Philippe Genty to Hong Kong and Macau to huge audience and critical acclaim. In January 2008, AAP co-produced the Korean premiere of We Will Rock You the musical by Queen and Ben Elton.


In 2008 the company is expanding, opening offices in Korea to manage Korean and North Asian touring, co-founding new venture in the United Kingdom and South Africa to present and produce new work and opening a representative office in Melbourne to increase Australian touring.


Prior to founding Arts Asia Pacific, Torben has worked with a number of leading arts organisations in Australia including the Adelaide Festival Centre, the Adelaide Festival, the Sydney Festival, Company B Belvoir, City of Sydney New Year's Eve Celebrations, Arts Projects Australia and more recently The Really Useful Company Asia Pacific (RUC).


Productions for RUC include: as Associate Producer, the International Tour of Cats(2001 to 2004) for which destinations included Lebanon, Kuala Lumpur, Seoul, Shanghai, Taipei (twice), Beijing, Stockholm, Helsinki, Oslo, Gothenburg and Doha. As Company Manager, the Asian tour The Phantom of the Opera(2004 to 2006) destinations include Shanghai, Seoul, Taipei and Hong Kong. As Production Coordinator, The Music of Andrew Lloyd Webber (2001 - Great Hall of the People, Beijing and Shanghai Grand Theatre), The Phantom of the Opera(2001 Korean language production in Seoul), Australian productions, The Graduate, Grease the Mega Musical and Shout!.


Torben is passionate about Australian theatre and the development of the industry, audiences and artists around the country. As a vehicle for this, in 2001 Torben founded Fresh Track Productions and remains joint Managing Director.


Fresh Track Productions is an independent Australian theatrical production company. Through the passion and dedication of an extremely talented group of emerging artists, directors, technicians and producers, Fresh Track Productions has produced: The Return (Adelaide Fringe 2002, Australian Festival for Young People (AFYP) 2003, Edinburgh Fringe Festival 2003 (Nominated for Best Production) and 6th Australian Performing Arts Market 2004), Morph (Adelaide Fringe 2004), Songs for the Deaf (Adelaide Fringe 2004), Disco Pigs (B Sharp at Company B Belvoir 2003), Marathon (AFYP 2005, Old Fitz 2005) Bend it Like Bollywood I and II 2003, Bollywood Vibes (2004 Adelaide Cabaret Festival) as well as managing exciting Australian singer/songwriter Liam Gerner.



Paul Warwick Griffin



With an international career spanning some 15 years, Paul has an extensive list of credits in just about every aspect of the theatrical arena from director to producer and actor.


Theatrical highlights include The Rocky Horror Show, Queen at the Opera, Hair, Camelot, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, The Taming of the Shrew, ‘Tis Pity She’s a Whore, The Madness of George III, The Visit, Macbeth, Fiddler on the Roof, All This I Know – The music of Brel and Piaf, Me and My Friend, Tick…Tick…Bang!, Imaja and Evita. As an actor, Paul has featured in no less than three separate productions of Jesus Christ Superstar in the title role of Jesus.Industry awards have recognized his achievements, having won Vita awards for most outstanding performance in a musical for his performances as Che Guevara in Evita and as Jesus/Judas in Jesus Christ Superstar.


For Pieter Toerien Productions, Paul has also directed the hugely successful Joseph and The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Jesus Christ Superstar, Stepping Out – The Musical as well as HAIR – The Love Rock Musical. His production of Jesus Christ Superstar has toured to Greece and South Korea (Seoul and Busan).


For over 4 years, Paul was the Associate Director for the World Tour of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s CATS traveling with the production to Beirut, Kuala Lumpur, Seoul, Shanghai, Doha, Taipei, Beijing, Stockholm, Gothenburg, Helsinki, Oslo and Athens.


Paul has just recently adapted and directed a new production of Chess as well as Disney’s High School Musical – Live on Stage. He was also a panelist for the reality TV show High School Musical – Spotlight South Africa.


Paul lives in London where his West End credits include Resident Director at the prestigious Old Vic Theatre for Sean Mathias’ production of Aladdin and is currently the Associate Director for The Theatre Royal Haymarket’s production of Waiting For Godot starring Sir Ian McKellen and Patrick Stewart.


Paul has produced extensively in the corporate industry and for 5 years he was the Executive Producer for a corporate entertainment company, Element Theatre Company. Paul Has free-lanced for several companies and his corporate clients have included Microsoft, Sun International and Vodacom.

Gareth Hewitt Williams



Gareth was born into a theatrical family and has worked in almost every aspect of the entertainment industry.


Recently, Gareth has worked as Company Manager on Jesus Christ Superstar, which toured to South Africa, Greece and South Korea and High School Musical - Live On Stage which toured South Africa and to Shanghai, China. He was also production co-ordinator for Hair - The Love Rock Musical, Chess and Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. Gareth was also the Production Manager for the TV casting reality search High School Musical - Spotlight South Africa.


In his early days Gareth's performing credits include The Sound Of Music, Noyes Fludde, Annie, Oliver!, Evita, Grease, Romeo & Juliet - as well as Mungojerry in the world tour of CATS. Gareth toured with The Really Useful Group for 4 years, travelling to Lebanon, Malaysia, South Korea, China, Taiwan, Sweden, Norway, Finland, Qatar, Greece and Thailand.


Gareth has also worked in the corporate entertainment industry, for companies such as Barclays, Unilever, Microsoft, Sun International, Kraft and Ogilvy and Mather.
