Jesus Christ Superstar, Korea

Thirty-three years after its Broadway opening, the Tim Rice-Andrew Lloyd Webber musical has an enduring relevance and emotional pull. We're talking about the greatest drama of all time - the last week of Jesus Christ's life - set to classic rock music!

More than 30 years after it premiered, "Superstar" is still contentious. It plays with sacred images and beliefs in ways that continue to push boundaries. This is the story of how Jesus comes to cleanse the world of its sins of money and sex and is then betrayed by Judas.

Jesus Christ Superstar highlights the political and interpersonal struggles of Judas Iscariot and Jesus and is told largely from Judas' irreverent point of view. The action takes place over the last seven days of Jesus' life, beginning with the entry into Jerusalem and ending with the crucifixion.

Reviews

"This is a mind blowing show... Theatre at its best' Newsweek

'Jesus Christ Superstar is Magical throughout - every note and every movement... It's as good as musical theatre can be. This splendid production richly deserves it's standing ovations.' Beverley Brommert
- CapeArgus

'...every bit as valid as (and to me, often more convincing than) Handel's Messiah... This is a work on an heroic scale, masterfully conceived, honestly done, and overflowing with splendid music and apt language.' The Sunday Times - London
