The King and I

The King and I

The greatest musical from the golden age of theatre will be embarking on a tour of the UK and Ireland in 2019, with the West End’s Annalene Beechey and Broadway’s Jose Llana reprising their critically acclaimed performances.

Set in 1860s Bangkok, the musical tells the story of the unconventional and tempestuous relationship that develops between the King of Siam and Anna, a British schoolteacher whom the modernist King, in an imperialistic world, brings to Siam to teach his many wives and children.

With a superior score of treasured songs including; Whistle a Happy Tune, Getting to Know You, and Shall We Dance, and featuring a company of over 50 world-class performers, The King and I is a testament to the lavish heritage of gloriously romantic musical theatre.

Tony Award-winner Kelli O’Hara and Tony and Oscar nominee Ken Watanabe stunned audiences with their performances in the Lincoln Center Theater’s production at the iconic London Palladium during the summer of 2018.

Both were nominated for 2019 Olivier Awards along with Catherine Zuber, who won the award for Best Costume Design.
